Cornfest

August 22-24, 2024 The largest free, family-friendly festival in Western Canada Every second last weekend in August, people visit Taber in large numbers from near and far for Cornfest. A two-day festival that features live music and entertainment, thrilling fireworks, food trucks, a chili cook off, amusement park, car show, and Taber corn. Famous from coast to coast, Taber and District Chamber of Commerce host the annual event to celebrate the well-loved vegetable. At Confederation Park, many family-friendly activities are complemented with buttery corn on the cob, grown right in Taber, Alberta, the Corn Capital of Canada.

There is also a corn stuffing contest, corn eating contest, and corn tasting contest. Taber’s long hot sunny summer days result in a much sweeter corn than most other varieties, and is sold at corn stands across Alberta.
