DISC GOLF Bask in the beautiful nature surrounding you while playing disc golf at Leinweber Park, Gilwell Park, or Kiwanis Central Park. The level of challenge is decided by each player, by choosing their distance from the basket, doing trick shots, or using different disc styles. Like regular golf, the goal is to land the disc in the basket in the fewest number of throws. Owner of Skip Shot Disc Sports Ethan Knodel has played the versatile sport for six years, starting with a three disc starter set and growing his collection to 23.
“It’s like outdoor therapy, being outside and playing a super chill game of disc golf. It’s quite relaxing,” says Knodel. Whether sunshine or grey skies, snow or rain, disc golf invites people to embrace the outdoors all year long. Disc golf sets can be found online at Skip Shot Disc Sports and at the Visitor Information Centre, 330 Gehring Road SW. CHAINSAW ART Local chainsaw artist Marina Cole picked up her first chainsaw on April 9, 2016. She now has pieces across Medicine Hat and has participated in inter national competitions, where she’s carved for 10 to 12 hours a day in Alaska, Australia, Montana, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Quebec, and Alberta. “I always wanted to be an artist. When I picked up that chainsaw, nothing has ever felt so natural,” says Cole.
